As the cost of each procedure depends on the number of units and many other factors, the average honorary as discussed in this survey is not a figure that is representative of what a patient can be expected to pay and should not be taken as the standard price for a hair transplant procedure. In 2006, 86.2% of all hair transplants were performed on men (this has dropped marginally from 88.6% in 2004) The 30´s represent the most numerous age group in masculine patients (31%) The second most numerous group lies between the ages of 40 and 50 (26%) Patients between 20 and 30 years lie in third place (17%) In 2006, 13.8% of all hair transplants were performed on women (this has increased marginally from 11.4% in 2004) Women aged between 40 and 50 years represent the most numerous group (29%) In second place are women in their 30´s (26%) Lastly, women of more than 50 years are in third place with 20% In 2006, 71% of the non-surgical patients who came for a consultation were men.
